What is a stingray's life span?

A stingray's average lifespan in the wild ranges from 15 to 25 years, with the creatures beginning their lives as part of a litter of roughly eight. As of 2014, the bottom-dweller is currently listed as threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Climate change, habitat loss, overfishing and persecution are the factors most responsible for landing the stingray on the list, with those inhabiting the shallow waters of the Atlantic, Indian and western-central Pacific Oceans being the most at risk. Seals, sea lions, sharks and other carnivorous fish are the predators posing the biggest threat to the solitary fish.
