How do you stop crickets from chirping?

The best way to stop a cricket from chirping is to catch it and release it into the wild. Although crickets stop chirping in response to loud noises or movements, there is no way to force or train a cricket to permanently stop making a chirping noise.
Because crickets do not have ears like humans, they respond based on sound vibrations in the surrounding area. When a cricket senses movement or vibrations, it immediately goes silent as a defense mechanism against predators. Male crickets are the only ones that make the chirping noise. They chirp to call for female mates, doing so at night to avoid active predators during the daytime.
