What is The Stream on Al Jazeera America?

"The Stream" is a social media-focused program that forms its content from the topics, opinions and views expressed on various social media platforms. It therefore mixes traditional news reporting and investigation with social media influences and the views of the average person, not simply those of an elite few.

"The Stream" aims to express and represent the experiences and feelings of a more diversified group of people, rather than a select group of academics, politicians and other celebrities.

The American version of "The Stream" is an adaptation of an original British program that also airs on Al Jazeera. It makes use of Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Pinterest and Google+.
