Street-legal scooters are two-wheeled, seated vehicles able to be used for transportation on U.S. roads. These are otherwise known as street scooters, motor scooters or (most commonly) mopeds.
In order for a scooter to be street-legal, it must have (among other things) a seat, a small front shield, a headlight and a taillight. Just as with any other motor vehicle, a driver must possess a vaild U.S. driver's license and insurance. In many jurisdictions, a driver may also be required to wear a helmet while operating a motor scooter. Motor scooters are either gasoline- or electric-powered, and some feature a combination of the two.
