Suckerfish typically eat algae and larvae found in the beds of rivers and lakes. They also eat crustaceans and different plant material.
Suckerfish are better known as Pecos. There are hundreds of different species and while they all have a similar body shape, they vary in color. When kept in tanks, suckerfish come in handy for keeping algae growth to a minimum. The fish will move along different parts of an aquarium, including on the rocks and plants cleaning as they go. Some suckerfish species, such as whiptails, stay in one place during the day and move around at night. The fish are prey for many other types of fish when left out in the wild.
