Is sucrose soluble in ethanol?

Sucrose or sugar is only slightly soluble in ethanol. In fact, if the alcohol is cold, even less of the sucrose is going to dissolve. The sugar that does not dissolve within the ethanol settles at the bottom of the container.
Potassium chloride and sodium are also partially able to be dissolved in ethanol. Sugar can be dissolved slightly in water to get a supersaturated solution to make the popular treat rock candy, according to Chemistryland.com. Salt is also very soluble in water. However, when the water is heated to the point that it starts to evaporate, the water cannot hold its solution due to there being too much salt. This results in the formation of salt crystals.
