What is the survival rate for glioma?

The survival rate for glioblastomas, a glioma subtype, is 30 percent for two-year survival and 10 percent for five-year survival, according to the American Brain Tumor Association. As of 2015, children tend to have a higher survival rate than adults, with the five-year survival rate being about 25 percent.
It is rare to find long-term survivors of glioma, notes the Permanente Journal. The size and location of the tumor determines a patient’s survival rate. Other determining factors include the age of a person at diagnosis, genetic markers and functional status. Gliomas are not in any way a result of lifestyle risk factors such as the use of cell phones, smoking or alcohol use, explains WebMD.
