Is Tafil the same as Xanax?

Tafil is a generic name for the anti-anxiety drug alprazolam, the trade name of which is Xanax. Both medications are distributed by Pfizer, which makes tablets of between 0.25 milligrams and 2 milligrams and has developed both regular tablets and extended-release versions, according to Catalog.md.
According to Drugs.com, alprazolam is sold as Tafil AP across much of Latin America, including Belize, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Panama. It is subject to varying degrees of control in the countries in which it is available. According to Wikipedia, Xanax is classed as a Schedule IV drug in the United States.
