The Tamukeyama Japanese Maple, or Acer palmatum var. dissectum "Tamukeyama," is a deciduous shrub or tree that has red-purple blooms and palmate green leaves, according to the Missouri Botanical Garden. It grows 6 to 8 feet high and 8 to 12 feet wide.
The Tamukeyama Japanese Maple blooms in April and produces winged samaras in the fall. The green leaves turn red, yellow, bronze and purple in the fall. The Tamukeyama Japanese Maple prefers to grow in full sun or partial shade and is hardy in USDA Hardiness Zones of 5 to 8. The shrubby tree has few pest and disease problems.
