How do you tell who made a table?

The surest way to tell who made an antique table is to inspect it for the maker's mark. The maker's mark is a signature or identifying brand logo that allows the table to be traced to its maker.
Maker's marks are often found on the underside of the table, on the back of a table leg, or in other places where they may not be immediately visible. Inspect the table closely, using a magnifying glass if necessary, to locate the mark. Once the mark has been located, consult an antique catalogue to find a match, or take the table to an antique broker for a full evaluation.
