What is the temperature of hot tea?

Hot tea is typically brewed to a temperature between 160 degrees and 185 degrees Fahrenheit, as stated by the National Institutes of Health. Some teas though, like oolong, should reach 180 to 190 degrees, while black and herbal teas are brewed between the temperatures of 208 and 212 degrees.

When brewing tea at home, the temperature will greatly affect the outcome depending on the type of leaves. For example, if a green tea is brewed higher than 185 degrees, the leaves will burn, but black teas are denser and can withstand the high heats, so the water should reach a full boil.
