What are some things you can do for Lent?

Lent is a time of penance, prayer and sacrifice, and Christians can engage in alms giving, voluntary work in a home or shelter for people with special needs, spending more time with family, and reading spiritual books. During this 40-day period, Christians frequently fast, pray and share with needy persons.

During Lent, families can create prayer chains that remind them to pray for people represented by the links in the chain. Kids can make Lenten and Easter cards for family, friends or others. More Lent activity ideas include planting flowers, attending Mass daily, reciting the Rosary, donating to children's homes, or visiting such homes and spending time with the kids.
