What three groups make up the executive branch?

The three sections that make up the executive branch include the president, the vice president and the Cabinet. The Cabinet is comprised of 15 executive departments, including the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Defense and the Department of Education.

The president of the United States has several duties as the head of government and commander-in-chief of the U.S. armed forces. The vice president is ready at any moment to take on all duties of the president and is trained in all of these aspects. All 15 cabinet departments are appointed by the president, but they are confirmed by the Senate. These individual departments report directly to the president.
