When do you plant pumpkin seeds?

Pumpkin seeds should be planted when the last frost has past and when the ground temperature is at least 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Pumpkins grow at an increased rate in warmer climates.
Pumpkin plants can be started in a pot inside the house if a person lives in an area that stays cold for a longer period of time. The plant should be started two to three weeks prior to the last frost of the winter season. The pumpkin plant needs proximately 20 square feet of space to grow for each plant. To plant pumpkin seeds, each plant should contain three to five seeds planted 1 inch into the soil.
