The CMA Awards usually take place in November. The inaugural CMA awards ceremony took place in 1967 during an un-televised program in Nashville. It is the longest-running annual music awards program on television and the organization brands it as "Country Music's Biggest Night."
The ceremony presents awards in 12 categories, including Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Male Vocalist of the year. In 2014 Luke Bryan won Entertainer of the Year. Miranda Lambert received the award for Female Vocalist of the Year, and Blake Shelton was Male Vocalist of the Year.
More than 6,000 country music professionals are members of the Country Music Association, which selects the award winners.
