To ensure that the turkey is fully cooked, insert an instant-read thermometer between the leg and thigh joint. It should read 165 degrees Fahrenheit when the turkey is fully cooked. Allow the turkey to rest and cool for at least 30 minutes before serving. If you plan to stuff the turkey, do this step before placing the turkey in the oven.
