What are some tips for dyeing clothes?

When dyeing clothes, always wear gloves, wash new fabrics before dyeing, and test first if trying to match a certain color. Additionally, always use the right amount of dye for the fabric.

When dying a large piece of fabric, such as a table cloth or bed sheet, dye it in a large container in the bathtub. Use hot water -- about 140 degrees Fahrenheit -- for deep, rich colors, and understand that the shade and construction of the original fabric determines saturation. Wash the dyed fabric by itself to avoid color bleeding into other clothing and linen items, and afterwards, clean the washing machine with a mixture of soap, chlorine bleach and hot water to remove excess dye.
