The late Samantha Lewes was Tom Hanks' first wife. They had two children together, actor Colin Hanks and actress Elizabeth Hanks. Samantha Lewes died on March 12, 2002, when she lost her battle with bone cancer. She was 49 years old.

Samantha Lewes was born Susan Jane Dillingham on Nov. 29, 1952, in San Diego, California. She and Tom Hanks married on Jan. 24, 1978. While together, she gave birth to Colin on Nov. 24, 1977, and Elizabeth on May 17, 1982. Samantha and Tom divorced on March 19, 1987. She was an actress known for her roles in "Bosom Buddies" and "Mr. Success."
