What are the torque specifications for a big-block Chevrolet engine?

The many different parts in reassembling a Chevrolet big-block engine each have different torque specifications. Therefore, no single value can be used for each part.
Similar looking parts also have different torque values. For instance, the 3/8-inch connecting rod bolts are specified to 50 foot-pounds, while the 7/16-inch connecting rod bolts should be tightened to 70 foot-pounds.
In addition, each manufacturer of aftermarket parts may have specifications for its parts. These may be different from the original manufacturer's delineations. In these cases, those working on a Chevrolet engine should check with that manufacturer for its specifications, as this may determine warranty coverage in case of part failure.
