Are travel size aerosol deodorants allowed in carry-on luggage?

The TSA allows passengers to bring aerosol deodorants that are 3.4 ounces or less in carry-on luggage as of 2015. During the screening process at an airport's security checkpoint, place the aerosol deodorant with other liquids, gels or creams in a clear, quart-sized bag.

The TSA allows aerosol deodorants over 3.4 ounces in carry-on luggage if the deodorant is in a transparent container or if it is bought in a duty-free shop and packaged in a tamper-evident bag. If an aerosol deodorant triggers an alarm during the screening process, it is pulled aside for additional screening and may not be allowed through the security checkpoint.
