Trojan Battery was founded in 1925 in Los Angeles by George Godber and his brother-in-law Carl Speer. Trojan began by manufacturing automotive batteries before moving into building batteries for commercial trucks.
Trojan Battery pioneered the development of the deep-cycle battery for the golf industry after the invention of the golf car battery for the Autoette vehicle in 1952. In 1992, Trojan opened a technology center, where batteries are developed and tested. Over the years, the company's innovation has seen deep-cycle application extending further to utility vehicles, renewable energy, floor machines, transportation and aerial work platforms. Most marine and recreational vehicles also use the deep-cycle battery.
