Why does the truck stall while driving but turns on after a little while?

Although there are a number of reasons a vehicle stalls and restarts later, one of the most common is low fuel pressure. This can be caused by a malfunctioning fuel pump, a dirty or clogged fuel filter or a bad fuel pressure regulator.

The first option is to replace the fuel filter. This is typically the least expensive possibility and the easiest to fix. If the filter is good but the vehicle still stalls, check the fuel pressure regulator for excess gasoline near the vacuum lines. If fuel is present, install a new regulator. If the vehicle continues to stall intermittently, the most likely cause is a faulty fuel pump.
