The dodo bird lived in a tropical environment. It was always hot with the summer months being really wet and humid.
The dodo was first discovered in the 1500s on the island of Maurititus. It was a very large bird that was not afraid on anything. The sailors who discovered this species thought the bird was not smart since it was fearless. This is how they came up with the name dodo. The dodo weighed in at about 50 pounds and stood over 3 feet tall. They preferred to nest in the dense areas of the forest. Their willingness to fight ultimately led to their extinction.
