What type of reel is used for striper fishing?

A spinning or casting reel able to hold at least 250 yards of line is ideal for catching striped bass. A conventional reel provides superior control when chunking, drifting and jigging. Reels should be resistant to corrosion and able to handle the fisherman's line of choice.
Striped bass are commonly found along the Atlantic coast, from Florida to Nova Scotia. Fishermen can catch these bass using a variety of bait including bloodworms, nightcrawlers, clams and sandworms. Migratory by nature, these fish move up and down the coasts and up river systems to spawn before returning to the sea. Fishermen commonly use fluorocarbon leaders to ensure the fish do not see the line.
