Mt. Shasta is classified as a steed-sided stratovolcano. The volcano is located in Siskiyou County, California along the I-5 corridor.
Mt. Shasta spans over 14,163-feet high and last erupted around 300 years ago. The volcano is the second largest in the Cascade mountain range. Since its formation approximately 593,000 years ago, the volcano erupts nearly every 600 to 800 years. Along with being a tourist attraction, the volcano is also a very popular spot for mountain climbers. The first recorded ascent of the volcano took place in 1854. E. D. Pearce and a team of men successfully climbed to the top.
