The Colima volcano is an active volcano and is classified as a strato volcano. Such a volcano has successive layers of ash and lava. The summit of the volcano is 3850 meters above sea level. It is located in the province of Colima in Mexico.
The earliest known eruption of Colima was in the later part of the sixteenth century. The Colima volcano has seen a lot of activity in the last few decades. Major eruptions in the past have resulted in the formation of a deep crater on the summit of the volcano. Volcanologists believe it a threat to the region as plumes of ash and steam are often seen rising from the crater.
