The natural habitat of Chinese Water Dragons are permanent standing bodies of water throughout Southeast Asia, such as the banks of rivers in rain forests and swamps. They require high levels of humidity and adequate access to water when kept in captivity.
Chinese Water Dragons live along river banks in China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar. It is a semi tropical species and lives in climates with temperatures between 75 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit. They frequently climb trees, but when frightened or threatened, they jump into water to escape. They are capable of swimming and diving for up to 25-minute increments.
