The most typical sign of an ulcer is epigastric pain, or pain that occurs in the center of the abdomen above the stomach, according to Everyday Health. While this pain can be intermittent, it typically leads to a general reduction in the feeling of well-being after eating.
Pain caused by an ulcer can start up a couple of hours after eating, and can cause disturbances in sleep, according to Everyday Health. Other symptoms of an ulcer include a loss of appetite, feeling bloated, vomiting and nausea. Antacids may ease these symptoms. Without treatment, ulcers can worsen and cause damage to the stomach and intestinal tract.
