According to Mayo Clinic, the symptom most commonly associated with a stomach ulcer is pain, which can occur anywhere from the naval to the breastbone. Other symptoms may include weight loss, lack of appetite, nausea, bloating, belching, heartburn, blood in the stool and vomiting, according to Healthline.
The burning pain associated with stomach ulcers is sometimes temporarily relieved after taking in food or an acid-reducing medication, states Mayo Clinic. Additionally, the pain can become worse at night or when the stomach is empty. Ingesting certain foods and medications can also exacerbate ulcer symptoms. These substances include orange juice, coffee, alcholol, and NSAIDs, according to WebMD.
