A universal license plate bracket is a piece of heavy-duty molded plastic designed to accommodate any shape or size of license plate. This type of bracket is most often attached to the front of a vehicle.
Most licence plates in the United States and Canada are 12" long x 6" high, whereas plates used in Europe, many parts of Asia and Australia are 20.5" long x 4.5" high. A universal license plate bracket can hold either of these sizes, as well as other shapes of plates, such as ovals or squares.
A license plate bracket is screwed onto the vehicle itself, and then the license plate to be held is mounted on it.
