How do you use plastic gas can caps?

To prepare a plastic gas can for use, twist the cap off while squeezing the serrated latch, squeeze the spout's clip until an audible click is heard, align the hook of the spout with the container lip and press down. A second audible click confirms that the spout is locked.

Fuel begins to flow when the spout is firmly attached to the container lip. Maintain pressure on the spout during fueling. When finished, remove the spout slowly and replace the spout with the cap to seal the container before it is transported. This procedure applies to nearly all plastic gas cans meeting the hydrocarbon emissions regulations established by the EPA in 2009.
