Can you use plastic edge trim in your garden?

Plastic edge trim can be used to separate a garden from the rest of the lawn or to designate separate planting areas within the garden itself. Plastic trim should be properly installed by digging a 4-inch trench so that the lip is at ground level.
Once the plastic edge trim is in the ground, raking soil against the trim helps keep it in place. Stakes can be used to secure the bottom of the trim into the soil before covering if necessary. When deciding where to place plastic edge trim it is helpful to lay out a garden hose or rope in order to see where the pieces will go before actually digging.
