How do you use potpourri?

Potpourri is used to freshen and scent the air in a household, retail store or office and is typically displayed in a decorative glass jar or bowl. Additionally, potpourri-filled sachets are placed in closets and drawers to scent clothing, and simmering potpourri is used to mask kitchen odors.

Potpourri is simmered by placing a small amount in a pan with water on the stove or in an electric potpourri pot. Electric potpourri pots use water and heat to disperse the potpourri's fragrance. Potpourri is easily made at home. Peppermint, basil and lemon are some common ingredients used to make homemade potpourri.
