Certain vaccinations are required before visiting Brazil, according to the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. These routine vaccinations include polio, measles, mumps and pertussis, among others.
The Centers for Disease Control also suggests that those planning to visit Brazil take a yearly flu shot as well. The Hepatitis A and Typhoid vaccines are also suggested due to a risk of contracting the illness through contaminated water or food, regardless of where the visitor may stay or eat. Travelers may need other vaccines, depending on their personal physicians direction. These may include Hepatitis B, Malaria, Rabies and Yellow Fever vaccines.
