As of 2014, the state of Florida requires a fee to register a vehicle. The standard fee for vehicles under 2,500 pounds is $27.60, the fee for vehicles 2,500 to 3,499 pounds is $35.60, and the fee for vehicles over 3,500 pounds is $45.60.
If the vehicle does not have a Florida registration, a $100 initial registration fee is required in addition to the standard fee for the vehicle's weight. If a vehicle from out of state is being registered, the owner must complete an application for certificate of title form to transfer the title of the vehicle from the current state to Florida. Proof of auto insurance from a licensed Florida agent is also required to register a vehicle.
