What is a ventless range hood?

A ventless range hood, also called a recirculating range hood, functions by using a carbon or charcoal filter to clean the smoke generated by a cooking range. In this type of range hood, the air does not leave the house but is filtered before being released back into the room.

A ventless range hood has several drawbacks, including the fact that it is unable to remove excess heat from the air that it filters. Any dirty air or smoke that passes through the ventless range hood can still have moisture and smoke particles in it when it is released back into the kitchen.
