What is "Weekend Edition Sunday"?

"Weekend Edition Sunday" is a radio news program produced by National Public Radio, more commonly known as NPR. It airs every Sunday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Eastern time and features interviews with news personalities, politicians, musicians and other artists and scientists, among others.

"Weekend Edition Sunday" first aired on January 18, 1987. The program was initially hosted by Susan Stamberg, but in 1989 Liana Hansen began hosting the show. After 22 years hosting the program, Hansen retired and handed over the host chair to Audie Cornish in 2011. As of 2015, "Weekend Edition Sunday" is hosted by Rachel Martin.
