What is white lithium grease?

White lithium grease is an all-purpose lubricant that reduces friction between metal objects or metal and plastic objects. Suggested applications for white lithium grease include lubricating door hinges, trunk latches and hood latches, and lubricating the sliding seat mechanism in autos. It is also useful for lubricating garage door mechanisms.

White lithium grease is also used in marine applications to lubricate door hinges, steering cables and throttle and shaft linkages. Further, this lubricant is used to lubricate swivel brackets and loader winch gears. White lithium grease is made from oil and lithium soap and was first introduced following World War II.
