What is a white Shiba Inu?

A white shiba inu is a small Japanese hunting dog with white fur all over its body. The breed standard for shiba inus calls for a specific pattern of white, known as urajiro, on all dogs; some shiba inus are born white all over their bodies.
Urajiro appears on the legs and underside of the dog, creating a pattern of white and color similar to that seen in red foxes or other wild canines. The breed standard calls for coats of red, black, sesame or black with tan points, all with urajiro markings. While all-white dogs do not meet the breed standard, the gene for completely white coats may be related to the genetics behind urajiro.
