How was the winner of the 2014 HGTV dream house chosen?

The winner of the 2014 HGTV Dream Home was chosen by a random drawing from a pool of more than 72 million entrants. The winner, Laura Martin of Boise, Idaho, said she entered the contest almost every day for two months.

The prize was a custom house on Lake Tahoe. Martin also won a GMC Yukon Denali and $250,000. HGTV announced that the entire prize package had a value of more $2 million. The crew of "HGTV Dream Home" informed Martin that she was the winner by surprising her at work. The episode showcasing her win was televised April 11, 2014.
