As of May 2014, the world record for weightlifting's deadlift is 1,155 pounds. The record was set by 6-foot, 3-inch, 375-pound Žydr?nas "Big Z" Savickas at the 2014 Arnold Strongman Classic.
Savickas broke the deadlift record of 1,128 pounds set the previous year by Mark Felix at the same event, which is part of the annual Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio. Savickas has been crowned the overall champion of the Strongman Classic seven times since it began in 2002, including six titles in a row from 2003 to 2008; he did not compete at the event in 2009 or 2012.
