The ultimate Olympic weightlifter in history is Hossein Rezazadeh from Iran. He holds the Olympic records in both the snatch and the clean and jerk competitions, as well as the total combined record.
At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, he lifted 212 kilograms in the snatch category. Four years later at the Athens games, he set the clean and jerk world record by hoisting 263 kilograms above his head. His 472-kilogram combined total for both categories at the Sydney games also set the unmatched standard for all weightlifters.
Rezazadeh is a celebrity in Iran, with his Olympic success earning him the moniker of "Iranian Hercules."
