Who wrote the poem "Jabberwocky"?

The poem "Jabberwocky" was written by Lewis Carroll for use in his 1871 novel "Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There." In the poem, Carroll uses nonsensical words that he created by combining words.

Carroll's novel "Through the Looking-Glass" is an 1872 sequel to his famous novel "Alice in Wonderland," written in 1865. Both novels are considered to be classic examples of the combining satirical material with children's literature.

Carroll held a number of professions before settling into writing. He worked as a photographer, mathematics teacher and a public speaker. While working as a photographer, he photographed Alice Liddell, who would become his inspiration for the character of "Alice" in his novels.
