"A Prayer for My Daughter" was written by William Butler Yeats. Although written in 1919, the poem was not published until the release of 1921's "Michael Robartes and the Dancer," a collection of his poems.
"A Prayer for My Daughter" has an iambic meter. It is 10 stanzas long with eight lines to each stanza. The poem is a reflection of Yeats's expectations for his daughter. William Butler Yeats was one of the more influential Symbolist poets of the 20th century. His fame skyrocketed when he won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1923. He died at the age of 73 on January, 28, 1939 in Menton, France.
