Where does acorn squash grow?

Acorn squash originated in North and Central America, but gardeners and farmers can easily grow the plant in most conditions. When growing the squash, it needs about 50 square feet for every two to three plants, and the soil it grows in must be shaped into a small mound.
When planting the seeds for acorn squash, the soil temperature should be about 60 degrees Fahrenheit so the seeds do not succumb to the frost. The vines of the acorn squash thrive in temperatures of 70 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The acorn squash still grows at higher temperatures, but the flowers drop and prevent further fertilization.
