At what age can you de-flea a kitten?

Kittens that are at least 8 weeks of age can be given topical flea treatments. According to The Nest, certain topical flea treatments, such as Revolution, can be used on kittens as young as 6 weeks of age.
Cats of Australia recommends bathing younger kittens in warm water and Dawn dish soap to get rid of fleas. Once the kitten is properly bathed, use a fine-toothed comb to eliminate any remaining fleas. On newborn kittens, manually pick off any visible fleas and kill them by placing them in a cup of hot water. Treating the mother cat for fleas with a topical treatment also helps eliminate and prevent flea transfer to kittens.
