The angel trumpet tree is poisonous according to Vanessa Richins Myers, About.com's Trees and Shrubs expert. It grows in USDA Hardiness Zones 9 to 11.
The angel trumpet tree, or Brugmansia spp., grows 6 to 20 feet high and 10 to 15 feet wide with hanging, trumpet-like flowers. Flowers are white, pink, peach, yellow or orange. The angel trumpet tree is a relative of nightshade plants, and all of its parts are poisonous.
According to Weather.com, the main toxin in an angel trumpet tree is Scopolamine. Side effects from Scopolamine ingestion include diarrhea, dizziness, nausea and confusion. It can be fatal.
