What is a golden trumpet tree?

Tabebuia chrysotricha, or golden trumpet tree, is a small, tropical tree that flowers in early spring. According to the University of Florida, it is deciduous, with a spreading, rounded canopy and silvery leaves with fuzzy tan undersides. It produces bright yellow, trumpet-shaped blossoms in the spring.

The golden trumpet tree is native to tropical America. It is fast growing, reaching heights of 25 to 35 feet. It is adaptable to all types of soil, but it is only hardy in U.S. Department of Agriculture's hardiness zones 10A to 11. This drought-tolerant tree is widely used as a median tree in Florida.
