What is anti-mold paint?

According to Sherwin-Williams, anti-mold paint contains antibacterial properties to help fight the growth of mold. Mold is a microscopic fungus which can feed on dry wall and wood, causing severe structural damage to a home. Mold can also feed on paints which do not contain antibacterial properties.

Because mold grows best in areas with lots of moisture, anti-mold paint is a good choice for bathrooms and kitchens, where steam from showers and cooking often attract mold. While mold-resistant paint helps keep mold from attacking, however, it cannot kill mold that is already growing. Mold should never be painted over; moldy dry wall must be replaced, and mold remediation professionals should be involved in any mold removal.
