What is the average tundra rainfall?

The tundra sees an average of 6 to 10 inches of rainfall each year. This number includes the melting snow in the tundra.
The biome is characterized by very cold temperatures, a low biotic diversity and short growing seasons. During the winter months, the average temperature is -30 degrees Fahrenheit. During the summer months, the temperatures average between 37 F and 54 F. Since these warmer temperatures only occur for around 60 days, there is very little time for new vegetation to grow. However, even with the extreme weather conditions, there are around 1,700 different types of plants that grow in the biome.
